Werenny Five is an independent editorial index covering four kinds of hotel: art hotels, capsule hotels, casino hotels and ice hotels. Each is written up on the same terms — as a building, a site, and a place where somebody spends a night.

The four categories rarely appear together, and that is the reason for putting them together. An art hotel is a hotel with a collection in it, not a museum with beds. A casino hotel is a hotel with a gaming floor among its facilities. An ice hotel is a hotel that is rebuilt or refrigerated rather than simply maintained. The differences are structural, which makes them worth describing side by side.

Method

Entries describe what a property consistently is: how it was built, what it was before, how the rooms are organised, what the setting does to the stay. We stay away from anything that would need a source we cannot provide, and we do not invent detail to fill a paragraph.

No star ratings, no guest reviews, no prices, no availability, no booking. Nothing here is sponsored, and no hotel has seen or signed off its entry before publication.

The index has no home country. Properties are grouped by kind rather than by region, and the writing does not speak from any one market.
